Low-level laser therapy (LLLt)

Low-Level Laser Therapy (LLLT), also called “cold laser,” is a non-thermal, non-invasive treatment that uses specific wavelengths of light to stimulate cellular function.

In our office, we use Erchonia® lasers, a leading technology in the field with 25 FDA clearances for various applications. These devices are designed to deliver precise light energy that interacts directly with your body at the cellular level.

How Low-level laser therapy works

Low-level lasers work through a process known as photobiomodulation.

Here’s what that means in simple terms:

    1.    Light energy penetrates the skin and reaches the cells

    2.    It interacts with structures inside the cell—especially the mitochondria

    3.    This interaction helps improve the production of ATP (cellular energy)

    4.    Cells function more efficiently and recover more effectively

There is strong scientific literature supporting that specific wavelengths of light can influence mitochondrial activity, particularly through enzymes like cytochrome c oxidase.

(Example: Hamblin MR, Demidova TN. Mechanisms of low level light therapy. 2006; Karu TI. Photobiology of low-power laser effects.)

Why we Use Erchonia® Lasers

Not all laser devices are the same.

Erchonia® lasers are:

    •    Non-thermal (they do not heat or damage tissue)

    •    Designed with specific wavelengths validated in clinical research

    •    Backed by 25 FDA clearances for different clinical uses

    •    Built for precision and consistency in treatment delivery

This allows us to apply laser therapy in a way that is both safe and highly targeted.

The Benefits You Can Expect

By improving cellular efficiency and energy production, LLLT can support:

    •    Improved tissue recovery and healing

    •    Reduced discomfort and inflammation

    •    Enhanced muscle performance and coordination

    •    Better neurological function (brain and nerve-related performance)

    •    Increased overall energy at the cellular level

Because the treatment is non-invasive and gentle, it can be used across a wide range of conditions and performance goals.

The Compounding Effect of Treatment

One of the most important concepts to understand is that laser therapy is cumulative.

Each session builds on the previous one.

    •    The first treatment begins the process of improving cellular function

    •    Subsequent treatments reinforce and amplify those changes

    •    Over time, this leads to more stable and longer-lasting results

Think of it like charging a battery:

    •    One session = initial charge

    •    Repeated sessions = sustained and optimized performance

This is why care plans are structured in a series—to allow your body to adapt, recover, and improve over time, not just temporarily.

How we integrate laser therapy

We don’t use laser therapy in isolation.

It is strategically combined with our assessment and treatment approach to:

    •    Enhance the effectiveness of muscle activation

    •    Support faster recovery between visits

    •    Improve overall outcomes and performance

Low-Level Laser Therapy with Erchonia® technology is a precise, science-based tool that helps your body function better at the cellular level.

It’s not about masking symptoms—it’s about improving how your body performs and recovers from the inside out.

What Does Progress Look Like?

Healing is a journey, and every body responds differently! Success isn’t always immediate 100% relief — even a 30% to 50% improvement is a strong sign that your body is moving in the right direction. We focus on building a steady, lasting foundation so your recovery sticks, allowing these therapies to work together to help you move with confidence.
